The area

The apartment is located in the heart of Brera, one of the most charming and historic districts of Milan. Although today Brera is synonymous with culture, art, and charm, its history tells a different story: it was originally born in a rural area, characterized mainly by fields and gardens. Its most significant transformation came during the Spanish domination in the 16th century when the area was turned into a residential district designed to welcome artists and intellectuals from all over. Brera thus became the pulsating heart of Milan's cultural life thanks to the presence of renowned artists, academies, and cultural institutions. Among these, the Academy of Fine Arts stands out, still housing a vast collection of artworks and offering training courses for artists. Another cornerstone of art in Italy is the Pinacoteca di Brera. Commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte, it houses an extensive collection of artworks ranging from the Middle Ages to Neoclassicism. Unmissable pieces include Hayez's "The Kiss," Caravaggio's "Supper at Emmaus," and Leonardo da Vinci's "The Virgin of the Rocks."

However, to paint a picture of the very central Milanese neighborhood, one cannot overlook the designer boutiques, artisan shops, historic cafes, trendy restaurants, and iconic cobbled streets. If the indecision about where to eat is too great, here are a couple of restaurants we recommend for a dinner in the city.

One must start with a true temple of Milanese cuisine: Trattoria Al Matarel, a place where time seems to stand still. Since 1962, the historic owner, Mrs. Elide, ensures that every ossobuco, every cassoeula, and every risotto is prepared according to the dogmas of Lombard and Milanese tradition. An alternative that takes us to Montenapoleone, more precisely to Via Santo Spirito, is Il Salumaio. Located in an elegant 17th-century building, Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone offers a refined and unique culinary experience. Here, you can taste a variety of Italian dishes and choose from a wide selection of Italian and international wines.

Let yourself be fascinated by the blend of sophistication, culture, and modernity in Brera, the pulsating heart of Milan.

The apartment

Even entering the building, you breathe an entirely Milanese air. The context is indeed that of the "case di ringhiera," typical Milanese structures characterized by a common balcony to reach the apartment doors.

Upon entering the apartment, one immediately notices the study and refinement behind the design of the home. Through its design, a very specific image was wanted: that of an upside-down box, where the conventional rules of coloring surfaces are completely overturned. Here, the walls are light while the ceiling is dark, all rigorously selected from the Kerakoll color range.

It is precisely the color scheme that accompanies us to the bedroom, passing from the ruby red of the entrance to the softer magenta that makes the bedroom a cozy environment. Moreover, every piece of furniture has been carefully selected from a temple of vintage design objects.

We are sure you will be pleasantly surprised by the Lunam Curly Armchairs by Kartel, the velvet mirror that recalls the iconic Ultrafragola, or the uniqueness of the lamps found in every room. The modernity of the kitchen and bathroom perfectly marries the historicity of the furniture, in an environment that will immediately feel like home to you.
